The Liebster Award is given by bloggers to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. It is to show new bloggers that they are appreciated, and to help spread the word about new blogs. I was nominated by Diya from The Hobby Harbor!

The rules:
1. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
2. Answer the questions that the nominator set for you.
3. Create 11 questions for the people you nominate.
4. Choose 11 blogs you love (with less than 200 followers) and link them in your post.
5. No tag back (but please leave me a comment on this post with the URL to your Liebster post so I can learn more about you)!

So here goes... a little bit about me...
I live in Portugal. I study medicine in Coimbra, but my family divides time between the beach near Lisboa and the countryside in Alentejo. So I am always moving around this little country.
My boyfriend is spanish. We met at a Underwater Hockey World Championship. We both play this sport.
I learn to sew and knit when I was as little as 3 years-old. I started making my own clothes in 2009 when my brother offer me my own sewing machine.
I am a Tv series-aholic (favourite thing to do while knitting!!). My favourites right now are The Walking Dead; Criminal Minds; Bones; Once upon a time; Parenthood; Hart of dixie; Dexter and Castle. And waiting for Game of Thrones!

Now, Diya has asked me:
[1] What are a few blogs that you read on a daily/weekly basis?

[2] Which is your favourite sewing pattern?
Hmm... this is a hard question for me. So far I loved working with Kasia; Burda Style Winter Cape and Burda Style 132 4/2011.

[3] How long have you been blogging?
4 months

[4] What project(s) are you currently working on?
A knitting sweater I cast on 2 years ago. I am knitting a present for my boyfriend, but it is a secret!... :P

[5] What is one of your New Years Resolutions?
Maybe study more and knit less... :S

[6] Did you write a tutorial on your favourite project you made?
More a less. I am working on real tutorials for the projects in hand to share with you guys but these days my time has been limited.

[7] Do you have pets?
Yes. I am a dog person. They mean as much to us as any person on our family. We recently lost one of our family dogs, the baby one (a 4 year-old Lab) and we are still mourning him (I still cry everytime I think of him being gone). Now they are 4.
Mine is a 7 year-old tricolour Bordie Collie, named Cookie. She was abandoned at our door.

[8] Where do you buy most of your clothes?
When I do, I go to Pull and Bear, Zara or HM.

[9] What is the #1 item on your holiday wish list?
See my boyfriend and family.

[10] Your favourtie project you made till date?
The Hobbit Cape and the XL orange bag.

[11] How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to start a blog?
I followed a lot of blogs for some time and I was showing my projects on Burda Style community, but I always felt the need to create my own blog. This summer I was house-sitting while my parents were away so I had a lot of time and decided to finally start my blog.

Here are the questions I'm asking the blogs I nominate:
[1] What are a few blogs that you read on a daily/weekly basis?
[2] What is your favorite TV show?
[3] Do you practice any sport?
[4] What project(s) are you currently working on?
[5] What is your favorite project until now?
[6] What is your favorite pattern?
[7] Are you a dog or cat person?
[8] Where do you buy most of your clothes?
[9] What is the #1 item on your holiday wish list?
[10] What is your favorite food?
[11] How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to start a blog?

Here are the blogs I've nominated:
[1] The Wardrobe Project
[2] Amy Stebbins...living a fashionable life
[3] A circus of her own
[4] The Rural Knitter
[5] Sew in Love
[6] Wunderbar
[7] Handmade in Style
[8] Yellowcloth
[9] Scared Stitchless
[10] Novelos & Agulhas
[11] Bernie and I
I'm looking forward to learning more about you! Please leave me a comment with your post URL so I can read them when you're finished :)

They sent me a copy last week!

Estou na Burda Alemã! :) E enviaram-me uma cópia a semana passada!

Happy happy here!
Most of all because now I have a "original" burda on my collection... somehow it feels like having a Vogue Italia... And I am on it!! :P

Estou feliz!
E eu apareço lá, no meu modelito! :P

Things that made me happy: Handmade Sweater by Mom & Green Knitting Needles

This was my attempt at taking photos with my phone and self-timer!
The sweater was made by my mom and I like it a lot. I do have to keep pushing it down all the time but otherwise it is quit comfy and warm.
I wore this outfit on a cold and sunny day. I didn't want to carry a coat around so I putted on a warmer sweater. I liked how this outfit looked and made me feel so I am sharing it (even though the photos are horrible! I do need to get a nice camera...)

I seem to have enormous shoulders here but that's because the sweater has puffy sleeves, which look good but not from these angles! 8-/

On another note, today I went to several yarn shops to buy a 2mm knitting needle and the lowest size them all carried was 2,5. I decided I was going to buy online. By chance I stopped by a shop I didn't know while taking a walk with a friend and gave it another try. It was an old shop. And after a lot of searching the lady found what I needed, in an yellowish box. Most have been there for some time now. And when I picked it up, it was a pair of green Inox needles, with a crystal end! So pretty! Maybe this is somewhat the usual knitting needle to most of you but I have never seen in portuguese ordinary yarn stores knitting needles other than grey plastic or aluminium and the wood ones (which are a rarity too!). It made my day!

Check my friends' blogs!!!

Some of my blogger friends have already swap ads with me:

This means they putted up my blog button on their blog and I putted theirs on mine. That way our readers can be redirected from one blog to another, knowing those blogs are related and will most probably interest them too. And we help each other grow readership.

Check them out at my side bar. You won't be disappointed! They have awesome blogs.

If you want to swap too, check my Swap/Sponsor page. It is very easy to submit your button with Passionfruit application!

Halloween: Emily Strange's Mystery Cat

I made this little fellow a few years ago to complement an Emily The Strange costume. It was supposed to be Mystery, one of her cats. And... It is a purse! That way I had a complement for my costume and a safe place to carry around the party my money and cell phone.
I am sharing him with you, because it is the only Halloween appropriate project I have and I am still so very proud of how it came out. I didn't use any pattern, just my instinct in an early phase of my sewing hobby.

It grabs on to your arm gently and stands on it's own too. :)

Pied-de-Poule Winter Dress

I haven't much to say about this dress except that I wear it a lot. I used flannel pied-de-poule so... It's so warm!
Used this pattern.

Project Inspiration: Plaid Skinny Pants

When I saw these at Shopbop I remembered I have a plaid fabric just like that! It has been on my stash for a while, waiting for me to decide what to do with it... I was giving up and plan to use it as lining for some coat. But now I can't wait to have some time and sew my first pair of trousers! I think I'll use this pattern.

What do you think? Should I make myself a pair of plaid pants? Do you like these?
O que acham? Devo fazer um par de calças axadrezadas? Gostam destas?

Old projects: Spider Scarf

Here is a scarf I made some time ago. I used the pattern October is for Spinners.
The spider design is interesting and it prolongs into a lacy web. :) I regret not making it longer.

Usei o modelo October is for Spinners.

Cape Collection: More Pirate than Dracula

I made this cape using the Cape Dracula pattern from Geri of Sewable. It think it turned out to make me look more of a pirate than a vampire, because of the colors and the belt!

I also made the buttons with Fimo. And used an old buckle for the belt.

Old Project: All Grown Up skirt

I made this skirt almost 3 years ago. It was not a beginner pattern and it took me 3 whole days to finish. But I learned a lot!! I loved out it came out! However it is now owned by my sister-in-law, cus it does not fit me properly anymore and it looks great on her!
The pattern I used is Burda Style's Kasia. This pattern is free for Burda Style members. Go get it here.

Cape Collection: Morgana's Long Cape

This was the first cape I made. I drafted the pattern myself.
I haven't been wearing it a lot lately. I used to wear a lot of black but lately I tend to turn away from it. However since I don't have a black coat anymore maybe I'll wear it more this winter.
